An Italian Legacy Over 500 Years in the Making
A History of Crafting Fine Wines
In 1479, when the Bonmartini and Fini families united in marriage, they combined a rich passion for winemaking with a desire to share the beauty of their homeland with the world. The families together formed Barone Fini, and have been sharing and enjoying only the finest quality wines crafted in their homeland ever since.
Today, direct descendants of the Bonmartini-Fini family continue that legacy of harvesting only the finest grapes by hand in the Trentino-Alto Adige region to highlight their family’s rich heritage and dedication to their craft. Giovanni Bonmartini and his sister Gioia are the engaged and passionate owners and brand ambassadors of Barone Fini, and play an active role in the winemaking process alongside a top caliber production team. This ensures Barone Fini always meets the high standards and reputation of the Bonmartini-Fini family.
Located in the pristine northern Italian Alps where altitudes range from 150 – 300 meters above sea level, Valdadige is one of the oldest and most esteemed winemaking regions in Italy. With roots dating back as far as 6th century B.C., grapes grown in this region can vary greatly from field to field but have always consistently produced high quality crops that pop with a complex brightness and acidity that complements the river the region is named after.
This region lies in a ‘Y’- shaped glacial valley on the border of Austria and Italy that is considered by many to be one of the best wine-producing regions in the world. Its proximity to both the Alps and the Mediterranean allow winemakers to grow a wide range of varietals that would be otherwise impossible.
This region, which has been producing wine for more than 3,000 years nestled in the Dolomite Alps, receives protection from the elements due to being surrounded by the mountain range’s peaks and ridges. The location is the perfect environment for our wine due to its well-established growing seasons and quality yields.
Within the Trentino-Alto Adige region, Denominazione di Origine Controllata (D.O.C.) designations assure winemakers preserve the precise tradition of making Pinot Grigio and Merlot. To attain this designation, each step of the winemaking process must be regulated and reviewed to ensure each bottle meets all required quality standards.
Sourcing from vineyards within this D.O.C. allows us to produce wines that are of the highest possible quality, while honoring the legacy of the Bonmartini-Fini family and their homeland.
